The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
-Lamentations 3:22,23
Another new year has dawned, and it is time to enter 2015 with joy and hope. God has been with us the past year, and He is going ahead of us into the new year.
As I reflect on my faith journey over the past year, it is these verses from Lamentations that keep coming back to my mind.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.
His love for me has been beautiful, firm and unwavering every single day. There have been too many days when I felt like a failure. I wasn’t mothering right, I couldn’t get many of the ideas in my head to materialize… There were moments when I felt I couldn’t give my best. I often questioned if I was fulfilling what was expected of me as a wife, mother and entrepreneur.
But God cleared it up for me… He told me it didn’t matter. What I did or didn’t do would not change His love for me!
His love is steadfast.
His love never ceases.
He never wavers.
His love was evident in the way He always showed up when I needed Him. He would encourage me through His word, a song, or an unexpected message from a friend. He was always there for me, and He took care of the things that mattered.
His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.
I have been selfish at times, seeking God only when I needed something. I’ve been guilty of not giving God the first slot… but He always offered grace. Every time I messed up and came back running to Him, He waited for me with open arms.
He didn’t remind me of the number of times I ignored Him. He gave me new mercies every morning. He wiped the fears and frustrations of the previous day away, and gave me a clear mind to start each new new day.
Great is your faithfulness.
We faced quite a few challenges as a family last year. But one thing that remained consistent throughout was God’s faithfulness. A couple of songs did help me through a difficult season when there were only dark clouds all around.
“Even If” by Kutless reminded me that even if the healing doesn’t come, life falls apart and my dreams are undone, God is still good and faithful. “Praise You in the Storm” by Casting Crowns taught me to continue praising God even in the midst of my storms.
God was walking with me through the storms.
He never left me alone.
He carried me through…
Every time I prayed for healing, or provision, He stepped in. My help truly was from God alone.
The new year might not be a bed of roses. There might be pains and struggles we’ll have to face in the coming months. But remember that the faithful God is with you.
He will be your strength.
Trust in God.
Hold on to Him.
Look for ways to praise Him even in the midst of your difficulties.
Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. – Habakkuk 3:17,18
Even if you’re struggling with your finances, your business ideas aren’t taking off, or you’re left alone, do not be dejected. God has not left you alone. He is there for you.
No matter what 2015 holds for you, it is God who will be holding you through it all. Enter the new year with praise and have a blessed 2015!
